It can be nerve wracking coming for counselling and the first step is to have an assessment usually with Carrol Rouse, the Director, on a confidential basis.

Why have an assessment?

The assessment process is a gathering of information exercise, not a counselling session.  It is important to find out the client’s needs and whether we can help at Community Counselling Service.  Carrol tries to match the counsellor with the client to ensure a relationship develops and the work can be done.

What does the assessment include?

There is an assessment form which covers questions ranging from contact details and medication, to the reasons the client would like to have counselling.   The assessment lasts between half an hour and an hour and there is the opportunity to ask questions.
