Accessible Counselling for the Community
Community Counselling Service (CCS) is an independent, not-for-profit company of volunteer counsellors based in Canterbury. Our mission is to provide affordable and
accessible counselling to adults in the Canterbury district.
We work with individual clients (not couples or families) over 18 years old who reside in postcode areas CT1, CT2, CT3, CT4, CT5, CT6 or ME13. All our work is face-to-face, we don’t do online or telephone sessions. Please see ‘Our Services’ and referral page for full referral criteria.
We offer the opportunity to explore difficulties in a longer-term counselling engagement, up to a maximum of 46 sessions, as it is our experience that clients often present with issues which require longer-term work.
You will be offered weekly sessions, meeting with your counsellor for 50 minutes each session. You will be listened to in a non-judgemental way and together with your counsellor you will examine the difficulties you are facing and explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours in a safe and confidential environment.
Please click on the ‘About Us’ and ‘Our Services’ pages for further information and to read our referral criteria; click on ‘Contact Us’ if you would like to get in touch about our counselling services. In an emergency, please see our emergency ‘Out of Hours’ page.
